Some excerpts of Polsky’s remarks can be read below:
On the policy environment needed to unlock America’s global AI leadership, Polsky said: I’m encouraged by what the Trump administration has said: that energy security is a national priority, and I think it’s important in this situation to embrace all energy sources in order to achieve the administration’s goals and address the energy emergency.
He continued: When we talk about big infrastructure like electricity, we need a strong policy environment that recognizes that having enough electricity and a grid to deliver it are national security issues.
On the energy tax credit debate, Polsky said: We have an emergency order from the administration, but we have to follow up with real actions to execute this order. But when we talk about repeal of the IRA, it's completely disconnected with the need for electricity. I think we need a consistent policy. If we want to unleash American abundant energy, we have to have policy that allows us to unleash it.
On the criticality of interregional transmission buildout in powering data centers and strengthening U.S. national security, Polsky said: Transmission is the next big frontier in the AI race and in American national security. If we think of transmission as the road, and energy generation as houses, you need to build roads before you build houses.
He continued: We can develop all sorts of power, but we need a modern electricity grid to be able to deliver it.
Polsky also talked about Invenergy's Grain Belt Express – the largest private-sector led transmission infrastructure project in U.S. history. An $11 billion investment in U.S. energy infrastructure, Grain Belt Express will unleash 5 gigawatts of any energy generation source across 800 miles and strengthen grid reliability for 40% of Americans and 25% of Department of Defense installations.
